Obituary

William David Robertson, 77, of Danville went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. Born in Nashville, Tennessee on September 23, 1949, he was the son of the late Bryan and Rebecca Wood Robertson.

David was a graduate of Danville High School who went on to earn his degree from Florida State University, where he also played football. Known fondly as “Coach Robertson,” he dedicated over 16 years to coaching football at Centre College. Fearless, brilliant, and full of laughter, he lived an adventurous life filled with diverse passions. He was a gifted musician who performed with both a Bluegrass band and a Rock-N-Roll group called "The Obsessions". David also loved the outdoors—especially camping, hiking, observing wildlife, and spending time with animals.

In addition to his music, David was a talented craftsman who used his skills to serve others through his business, Robertson’s Fine Woodworking. A dedicated member of First Christian Church of Danville, he often shared his musical gifts alongside his wife.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Nancy Senter Robertson; his son, David (Katie) Robertson of California; and six daughters: Julia (Michael) Fawcett of North Carolina, Sadie (Sage) Crum of North Carolina, Bequi (Greg) Baiet of California, Sarah (Brad) Wall of Waynesburg, Amanda Chidester of Danville, and Hannah (Tyler) Miracle of Bowling Green. He also leaves behind his sister, Eleanor (Jerry) Baldwin of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren—Will, Clara, Ben, Calvin, Josephine, Roderick, Eloise, Micah, Jackson, Jacob, Addison, Ava, and Charlotte—along with a 14th grandchild expected in the spring.

The Celebration of Life Gathering will take place at The Showroom in Danville on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
