Vernon Wayne Russell, 71, of Moreland passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.  Born May 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Vernon Eddie Russell and the late Opal Mills Russell.

Wayne was known as "Headman" to his friends and "Pappaw Wayne" to his family.  He loved to cook, hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors.  For many years, he worked in construction and remodeling.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Sheene Russell; sons, Joseph Wayne (Rachel) Russell of Lancaster and John Henry Wayne (Katosha) Russell of Ellisburg; daughters, April (Travis) McFalls of Kings Mountain and Candice (Jason) Keltner of Campbellsville; brothers , Mike (Teresa) Russell of Gravel Switch and Mark (Tisha) Russell of Ellisburg; sisters: Joyce Middleton of Danville, Beverly (Genie) Dunn of Hustonville, Peggy (Read) Baierlein of Simpsonville, and Pam McCowan of Moreland; 8 grandchildren:  Eden Keltner, Caden McFalls, Kenzie McFalls, Lillian Russell, Ivy Keltner, Kylie McFalls, Major Russell, and Woods Russell.

Visitation is 5-8 pm Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.  Funeral Service will be at 11 am Saturday with Pastor Faron Owen and Bro. Jason Keltner officiating.  Burial is at Moreland Cemetery. Pallbearers are Joseph Russell, John Henry Russell, Travis McFalls, Jason Keltner, Mike Russell, and Mark Russell. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.
