Verla Ann Mullins Wilson, 91, of Moreland went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Born in Somerset on April 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late William Edward and Beulah Reynolds Mullins.
Verla loved UK basketball. She liked to garden – raising her vegetables. She enjoyed watching her "soap operas" which were The Price is Right and the Wheel of Fortune. She loved the Lord and her family and will be missed greatly.
Verla is survived by her daughters: Barbara Worthington of Danville and Pam (Carl) Day of Danville; sons: Ronnie (Tammy) Ping of Harrodsburg and John (Sherry) Lear of Elizabethtown; sisters: Reba Gentry of Somerset and Verla's twin, Laverne New of Eubank; 11 grandchildren: Kim West of Moreland, Christopher Shane Durham of Lexington, Ryan Ping of Stanford, Brad Ping of Louisville, Amanda (Kris) Scott of Danville, Travis Leffew of Danville, Caitlin (Tyler) Hargis of Nancy, Cameron (Grace) Day of Ca, Nicole Powell of Junction City, Hailey Lear of Elizabethtown, and Chase Lear of Elizabethtown; 7 great-grandchildren: Austin, Chloe, Kaylee (Mason), Dustin, Aubrey, Tate, Drew, and Baby Day due in January; and 2 great-great grandchild, Matthew Keith and Penelope.
In addition to her parents, Verla was preceded in death by her husband, George Marvin Wilson; daughter, Sue Ping; brothers: Harold, Lucian, Delano, and Clinton Mullins.
Visitation is 5-8 PM, Monday at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Tuesday at the funeral home with Bro. Jeff Finley officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery at 2 pm, Tuesday. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters and special neighbors, Bill and Treasa Stringer.
