Vanessa Chantelle Sandidge, 53, of Stone Mountain, GA gained her angel wings when she passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, and entered heaven to be with her Lord. Vanessa was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Fritz and Nancy McElfresh and George and Jewell Sandidge. Vanessa is survived by her parents, Jere and Glenda Sandidge; sister, Devon Ashley Sandidge Harris (Colin); nephew, Rhys Turner Harris; aunts and uncles, Marshall (Sandra) McElfresh of Fairview, Texas, Melissa McElfresh Green of Nicholasville, Ky, Mark Thomas McElfresh of Danville, and numerous cousins.

Vanessa was a member of the Snellville Community Church and a registered nurse by profession for 30 years. Vanessa was passionate for her martial arts and held black belts in two different disciplines. She also held a teaching certificate of which she was the third woman in the world to obtain. Vanessa loved traveling and many times attended martial arts seminars to enhance her skills and techniques.

Vanessa loved all of her pets especially her cats and was a strong advocate for the No Kill Shelters. She generously donated items for various shelters to help with the animals. Vanessa loved music and was drum major of her high school band and was a member of the drum line. Vanessa sang with the Birmingham Choral Society while attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

After college, Vanessa moved to Atlanta to pursue her career in nursing and to be closer to family. Vanessa spent the majority of her career in the field of rheumatology. The funeral service to celebrate the life of Vanessa will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel, Snellville, GA. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

A Graveside Service will be held at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 11 am with Rev. Feron Owen officiating.
