Shelia Marie Dishon Yates, 77, of Stanford passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022.  Born March 22, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William Lewis and Marie Faye Dishon.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Yates and brothers, Cleo Dishon and William Lewis Dishon, Jr.

Along with her husband, she had been co-owner of Yates Trucking.  She had also worked in management at ATR Wire and Cable.  Shelia was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.  Throughout the years, she had taught Sunday School and sang in the choir at several churches.  She was active in the Danville Kiwanis Club and with the United Way.

Shelia is survived by her daughter, Tammy Lee Yates of Lexington and her brother, Robert Dishon of Danville.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Buffalo Springs Cemetery with Pastor Pam Lee Miller officiating. Pallbearers are Gary Sowers, Robert Sowers, Stephen Elder, Jeremiah Thompson, Jackie Greer, and James Stogsdill. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Reed, Chris Reed, Dale Reed, and David Devine.  Shelia loved bright colors.  As we celebrate her Homecoming, we would appreciate if those attending would wear bright colors.  She would absolutely love if you wore your UK blue!
