Obituary

Ruby Charlene Cochran Wipfel, 68, of Danville passed away at Ephriam McDowell Medical Center on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Born September 15, 1956, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Burnel Cloyd Cochran and Aline Hill Cochran. Aline died February 20, 2025.

She is survived by her husband: William Joseph Wipfel of Covington, KY; one son, Josef Wipfel of Suttons Bay, Michigan; 2 daughters, Darlene Wipfel of Royal Oak, MI and Daisy Mitchell of Warren, MI; and 2 sisters; Eva Cochran of Danville and Bonnie Pfuntner of Nunda, New York. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a very special friend, Vicki Douglas Parker.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Francis Cochran.

Ruby attended Danville High School. After school she got married and moved to Michigan where she not only raised her own family but also several nieces and nephews.

Ruby loved collecting tigers and teapots of all kinds. She loved to travel the backroads and disliked big malls and stores.  After moving back home from Michigan she reconnected with some classmates and looked forward to monthly lunches with them. She would arrange the places for them to meet and she loved the time she spent with them each month.

Over the years her health started to decline but she never complained and was always ready to meet her classmates each month. She was active in her church and loved helping when possible. She loved her church, and the people there became her family and her support.

She always tried to look for the good in everyone she met. When younger she made quilts and loved to go bowling. As she aged, she lost a portion of her hearing but that did not stop her from doing the things she loved. She loved playing games on her computer, spending time with her mom, and texting her friends.

She has now joined her mom and both are pain free enjoying a heavenly reunion.
