Ray
Boone
Apr 21, 1961 — Sep 22, 2024
Danville
William Ray Boone, 63, of Danville passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024. Born in Stanford on April 21, 1961, he was the son of the late William Leighton Boone and the late Rayetta Popplewell Erwin.
Anyone who knew Ray knew he loved a good pizza, a cold beer, and a good laugh. He was a pool shark from the time he could hold a stick and was always up for an adventure.
Ray spent the early part of his occupational life on various endeavors and did a little bit of everything, from farming to pizza making to car sales to management. He never loved working for "the man" and started his own business, The Little Sign Shoppe, about 30 years ago. Growing it from a kitchen table side gig to an entire brand, he didn't stop there. Ray took his love of fireworks and the Fourth of July and dedicated his summers to operating the only locally owned fireworks stand in the county, making sure to always give back to the veterans.
Ray was most proud of his grandchildren, both those of his own blood and those he took on as his own through the years. Nothing made him happier than spoiling them rotten and putting huge smiles on their faces.
Ray was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and friend. In his 63 years on earth, he touched so many lives and packed in one hell of a lot of living.
Ray is survived by his daughters, Marcie (Chris) Leedom of Junction City, Mandy (Adam) Stocker of Danville, Bridget (Tony) Winfrey of Nicholasville, Courtney Johnston of AL, and Samantha Johnston; a son, Michael Boone of Danville; brothers: Lee (Suzanne) Anderson of Owensboro and Calvin Boone of Danville; a sister, Debbie (James) Anderson of Moreland, grandchildren: Austin, Zachary, Alex, Kallie, Dani, Phoebe, Aidan, Addison, Marlee, Brantley, Wyatt, and RJ; a great grandchild, Jamison; and several uncle, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 11:00am-12:30pm. A celebration of life service will follow at 12:30pm.
