Ralph Eugene Sheene, 92, of Moreland passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  Born August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Willie Lee Sheene and Lily Sweeney Sheene Cole.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Elizabeth Wall Sheene; son, Danny Lee Sheene; and brothers, Dallas, Kenneth, Grady, George, Bob, Woody, and Dunlap Sheene; and sister, Carrie Hamm.

Gene is a member of Westside Community United Methodist Church, serving in various capacities such as trustee and Sunday School Superintendent.  Gene was a gifted carpenter and contractor even helping in the construction of Westside.  Following the 1974 tornadoes, he did extensive work for Kentucky Growers Insurance Company making many local repairs.

He is survived by his daughters, Freida (Larry) Ison of Mercer County and Judy (Wayne) Russell of Moreland; son, William E. Sheene (Pam) of Junction City; brother:  Donald Sheene of VA; 10 grandchildren: Renee Roberts, Vanessa Kesten, Daniel Myers, Andrew Myers, April McFalls, Joseph Russell, Candice Keltner, John Henry Russell, Scott Sheene, and David Sheene; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 6-8 pm Thursday at Westside Community UMC and on Friday from 12-1 pm.  A Funeral Service will follow at 1 pm Friday with Rev. Bob Coppings and Rev. Faron Owen officiating.  Pallbearers are Scott Sheene, Joseph Russell, David Sheene, Daniel Myers, John Henry Russell, Andrew Myers, Travis McFalls, and Jason Keltner.  Burial is in Moreland Cemetery.
