Obituary

Miriam Narvaez Bickley, 76, of Danville went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.   Born August 18, 1948, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Jesus and Carmen Rosa Lara Narvaez.

Miriam is survived by her husband of 53 years, Elbert B. Bickley; son, Adrian Bickley, and his wife, Marianne, of Nancy; grandchildren: Nathan, Micah, and Jesse; brother, Wally (Carmen) Narvaez of Puerto Rico; and nieces and nephews: Johanna Numero of TX, Waldy Narvaez of FL, and Lorna Narvaez of Puerto Rico.

Miriam grew up in Puerto Rico graduating from the University of Puerto Rico. While in college, she met her future husband, a US Navy sailor and was married three years later.  As newlyweds, they moved to NC where their son would be born. After raising Adrian, she went to work for the state of South Carolina, Department of Health and Human Services, until retiring and moving to Danville, KY in 2017.

Miriam loved cooking and entertaining folks. She enjoyed sitting and reading cookbooks when she had idle time.

Miriam became an active member of Centenary Methodist Church where she was involved in Sunday School, Women's Bible Studies, and enjoyed helping in the kitchen. Serving her Lord was most important to her in many capacities.  Miriam affected so many people in such a positive way.  She was an inspiration to many.  She once told her pastor to pray that she would have a "sweet spirit" as she embraced her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.  Her testimony can still be viewed at the following link: https://vimeo.com/720398723.

Miriam's Visitation is 10 AM-12 PM, Saturday at Centenary Methodist. Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 PM with Rev. Chris Morgan officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Centenary Methodist Church.  A Guestbook is available at www.wlpruitt.com.
