Mari Frances Hlavacek Amick, 69, of Danville, KY passed away January 4, 2021 in her apartment, having suffered an apparent heart attack. She had been in poor health for several months. Born September 3, 1951 in El Paso, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Tessa Gillespie Hlavacek and Victor Hlavacek.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Waldo Harrison McWhorter and Andrew G. Hlavacek.  Mari was a registered nurse graduating from ENMU in New Mexico.  She was proud of the time that she worked at the Alderson Federal Prison for Women in WV.

She is survived by a daughter, Andrea and her husband, Daniel Todd Wrightson of NC; son, Matthew C. Amick of WV; brother, Peter Hartman of NC; grandchildren:  Autumn Johnson, Ava Wrightson, and Chandler Amick; great granddaughter, Aleah Russell; and a "Maltipoo" dog named Willie that she was fond of.

Mari was especially devoted to her three grandchildren, frequently calling and visiting them until her last months.  She had moved to Danville, KY in 2017, where she was close to her cousin, Ron Devrick and his wife June, who often helped out in her declining years.
