Lewis Jay
Hogue
Feb 8, 1942 — Jul 14, 2026
Junction City
Lewis Jay Hogue, 84, of Junction City passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Born in Junction City on February 8, 1942, he was the son of the late Arthur Hardin and Mamie Mae Clem Hogue.
Lewis Hogue was a man of unwavering faith, humble character, and deep country roots. His greatest passion was his love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Gospel of the grace of God as revealed through the Apostle Paul. He found peace in the assurance of Christ's finished work and was never happier than when he was sharing that hope with others. Lewis saw God's handiwork all around him.
He had a life-long appreciation for classic automobiles, especially Ford Mustangs, and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a car show or strike up a conversation with a fellow car enthusiast.
Lewis loved people as much as he loved the Lord. He never met a stranger, and before long, everyone he met became a friend. His warm smile, easy conversation, and genuine interest in others made people feel welcome wherever he went. He loved his family with a devoted heart, treasured his friendships, and was a faithful member of his community. Though he will be deeply missed, The legacy he leaves is one of faith, kindness, hard work, and love – a life that quietly pointed others to Christ. We rejoice knowing that the Savior he trusted has welcomed him home, where faith has become sight and every promise of God has been fulfilled.
Lewis is survived by his children: Donnie Hogue, Dewayne Hogue, Regina Kuchenbrod, Vonda Rigdon all of Junction City, and Angela Carpenter of North Carolina; grandchildren: Brian (Lexi) Cox, Jay Hogue, Will Hogue, Caitlin (Seth) Eckert, Matthew Rigdon, Jerad (McKenzie) Hogue, and Christian (Samantha) Kuchenbrod; great-grandchildren: Annabelle Eckert, Amelia Eckert, Cullen Kucenbrod, Bentley Cox, Bryson Cox, Brilynn Cox, Corbyn Blackwell, Cambria, Gracin, Elin, Lydia, and Bellamy; and a companion: Emma Hardin of Harrodsburg.
In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Sinkhorn Hogue; siblings: Helen Hogue, Arthur "Brother" Hogue, Naomi Hogue, Doris Jean Blevins, and Roberta Hogue; and grandson, Roderick Austin.
Visitation for Lewis will be 12-2 pm, Saturday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm, Saturday with Regina Kuchenbrod officiating. Pallbearers will be Donnie Hogue, Dewayne Hogue, Brian Cox, Matthew Rigdon, Jerad Hogue, Christian Kuchenbrod, and Bentley Cox. Honorary pallbearers are Sammy Belcher, Clarence Belcher, Lanny Coulter, David Sexton, Mike Wray, Lewis Hale, Doug Cheek, Mark Spurlin, and Tony Hogue.
Lewis loved his home, the outdoors, and the beauty of nature. In lieu of fresh flowers, the family kindly requests that live plants be sent in his memory, as a lasting tribute to the things he loved the most.
