Kitty
Bell
Dec 18, 1950 — Jul 12, 2023
Danville
After enduring decades of agitation, shenanigans, and generally childish behavior from her husband (but never from her son, of course), Margaret Katherine "Kitty" Bell, 72, of Danville had enough and passed away peacefully at her most favorite place, her home, on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. As one who could never wait for Christmas, she was born on December 18, 1950, in Danville to the late Calvin and Elsie Boswell.
Kitty was a longtime Sunday school teacher at Gethsemane Baptist Church and was most recently a member of Southland Christian Church in Danville. It is believed that only two of her Sunday school pupils wound up in prison, so her teaching was mostly effective. She spent her best days tending to her gardens. Her flowers were her favorite things in life, and it seems (although it cannot be proven) that each flower was chosen for its ability to induce maximum allergic reaction in her husband and son, almost certainly as some type of beautiful, floral retribution for their behavior over the years. She was a magnet for kids as well, and she loved visiting with all the children in her neighborhood. Medical studies will one day likely show a spike in sugar-related illness in children who grew up within a one block radius of Kitty's home due to her copious candy distribution habits. She never ran out of Starburst.
Kitty is survived by her husband of 53 long and arduous years, Craig Bell, of Danville (who still can't properly clean the kitchen), her favorite son, Jake Bell, of Lexington, her niece (who she loved and fussed with like a daughter), Ayse (Michael) Wise of Knoxville and her children, Beau and Sam Wise (whose birth, thankfully, relieved Jake of the pressure of providing grandchildren), her brother, Frank Boswell, and his daughter, Carly, of Danville, and her beloved dog, Jasper, who spent countless hours protecting her from mailmen (both existent and non-existent), passing cars, strange noises and other immediate threats to her wellbeing. Mostly, however, she is survived by the sense of humor she maintained into her final days and by the love she poured into everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Southland Christian Church in Danville at 6 p.m. The family will receive visitors prior to the service beginning at 4 p.m. Bro. Mark Payton will officiate. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
