Judith
Dewitt
Aug 7, 1947 — Oct 31, 2024
Hustonville
Judith Vera (Uctman) DeWitt, 77, of Hustonville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Allen DeWitt. Born on August 7, 1947 in Reno, Nevada, she was the daughter of Wilbert and Vera (Gladding) Uctman, both of whom have passed. Following her mother's untimely death at her birth, her grandparents, William and Matilda Uctman of Litchfield, Illinois, and her cherished Aunt Elena Howarth of Virden, Illinois played significant roles in her upbringing.
Judith is survived by her son, Kevin (Pamela) DeWitt, and her two granddaughters, Riley and Emily DeWitt, all of Midlothian, Virginia. She often said her son was her greatest gift, and she loved Riley "to the moon and back," while Emily always claimed to love her "more," a playful joke they shared. She is also survived by four brothers: William and Robert Uctman of Hendersonville, Tennessee and William and Gary Sorenson of Reno, Nevada, along with her sister, Elena Uctman, also of Hendersonville. Additionally, she cherished the friendships of Jackie Caltagerone and Brenda Tyler of Danville, Kentucky, as well as her sister-in-law, Margaret Pritchett, of Litchfield, Illinois. Her little dog, Benji, was her constant companion and brought her immense joy.
Judy enjoyed a long career at Brake Parts, Inc. in Litchfield, Illinois and Stanford, Kentucky, where she worked for 43 years. Following her husband's passing, she embarked on a new journey as a caregiver, a role she embraced with love and dedication for each of her clients. Judy considered Southside Church in Litchfield her home church and also attended several congregations in Kentucky, including Moreland Christian Church and New Hope Baptist Church. Her faith in Jesus, as expressed in John 3:16, was the foundation of her life.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Instead, Judith requested that her friends celebrate her life, sharing joyful memories of the love she had for each of them. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her lifelong love of animals, please consider making donations to the ASPCA.
