Jimmy Wayne "Mudd Turtle" Hazlett, 69, of Stanford passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital with his children by his side.  He was born in Stanford on January 6, 1952 to the late James Richard and Amy Inese VonLinger Hazlett.  He retired after working for over 30 years at First Southern National Bank.

Mudd Turtle had a large family and loved spending time with them.  He was well-known around Stanford and enjoyed fishing.  He enjoyed playing football at Stanford and took pride in coaching Little League football.  He was especially proud of some of his former teams that went on to play for Lincoln County High School in the KHSAA State Finals.  He loved to sing Karaoke at family get-togethers and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a son: Jimmy Glen (Jennifer) Hazlett of Stanford; a daughter: Rebecca (Justin) Dowell of Hustonville; a brother, Will Hazlett of Moreland; 3 sisters: Amy Lu Hazlett of Stanford, Helen Ingram of Stanford, and Sandra (the late Chuck) Robbins of McKinney; 6 grandchildren: Elias, Sadie, Nora, Lyla Whitley, and Ellie; and several other close family members.

Per his wishes, Mudd Turtle was cremated.  A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church by Bro. Nehemiah Wilkinson on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 7 p.m.  The family welcomes visitors prior to that time from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
