James Madison McGirr, 88, of Moreland passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026. Born in Danville on March 2, 1938 he was the son of the late James Lewis McGirr and Lilian Harris McGirr.

James was a loving man who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He especially cherished the time he shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making many special memories with them that will be fondly remembered.

James is survived by his daughter: Jennifer Hale of Moreland; sister: Agnes King of Moreland; granddaughter: Tiffany Franklin of Florida and Josiah McGirr of Danville; and great grandchildren: Trinity Franklin, Autumn Franklin, and Remmington Franklin.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his son: James “Ernie” McGirr and two nephews that he loved to fish with: Kevin and Jay King.

James’ wishes to be cremated have been honored.
