Edwin Hershel Reed, 85, of Stanford passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026. Born in Rocky Ford on January 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Lee and Maulsey Followell Reed. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Joberta Henson Reed whom he married on December 24, 1965.

Hershel especially enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, and he cherished his time spent outdoors. He attended Bluegrass Pike Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of family, the outdoors, and his faith.

Hershel is survived by his son: Kevin Lee Reed of Stanford; daughter Pam (David) Dyer of Nicholasville; brother: Carroll (Connie) Reed of Rocky Ford; sisters: Lora (Pat) Overstreet of Danville and Carolyn (Arnold) Lane of Maxey Valley; and grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth and Joshua Reed Dyer.

In addition to his parents, Hershel is also preceded in death by his son: Edwin Kevin Reed.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at W.L.Pruitt Funeral Home.  The funeral will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Chaplain Jonathon Grizzell officiating and Pastor Travis Alltop providing special music. Burial will follow at Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Steve Snow, Kerry Wesley, Jeff Wilson, Jake Beeler, Tim Lane, and John Ellis.
