Glenwood Cornett, 69, of McKinney passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born in King's Mountain on October 18, 1956. Glenwood was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Audrey Cornett who he married on May 1, 1976.
Glenwood was a hardworking man who found his greatest joy in spending time outdoors and with his family. He cherished every opportunity to be with his children and grandchildren, creating memories they will treasure for years to come. He enjoyed tending to his garden and took pride in the time he spent working outdoors. He also had a lifelong appreciation for classic muscle cars and enjoyed admiring and talking about the older models he loved. Glenwood enjoyed shooting guns and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of nature, and the deep devotion he had for those he loved.
Glenwood is survived by his sons: Chris Cornett of McKinney, Melvin (Amanda) Cornett of King's Mountain and Eric (Caitlin) Cornett of King's Mountain; daughter Kim (Tony) Short of McKinney; brothers: Charles (Dorthy) Cornett of King's Mountain, Earl Cornett of King's Mountain, and Jerry (Connie) Cornett of King's Mountain; sisters: Helen Ryan of Stanford, Mary (Danny) Padgett of Waynesburg, and Alice Foley of Waynesburg; grandchildren: Cynthia Cornett, Jessica Cornett, Elizabeth Cornett, Ethan Cornett, Eli Cornett, Julie Ann Cornett, Adam Beckett, Noah Beckett Cornett, Hailey Cornett, Hayden Dean Cornett, and Samantha Kay Cornett; and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Glenwood was also preceded in death by his parents: Glen and Maymie Cornett; sisters: Brenda Coleman, Linda Coleman, Geneva Cornett, and Anna Cornett; brother: Eulain Ray Cornett; and grandson Wyatt Cornett.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Cornett, Adam Beckett, Daniel Boyd, Jonathan Bishop, Mason Hardin, and Zac Sparkman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Short and Alex Ryan.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 5:00pm-8:00pm at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00am at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Stevens and Bro. Chris Taylor officiating. There will be a burial to follow at Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg.
