Georgia Jean Amburgey Smith, 82, of Stanford passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025. Born in Amburgey, Kentucky on November 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Belford Amburgey and Virginia Watkins Richey.

Georgie enjoyed cooking, visiting with friends, traveling, crocheting, sewing, and sharing stories of past experiences. She was a free spirit with a tender heart. Georgie was kind, caring, and gentle.

Georgia is survived by her daughter, Teresa Lynn of KY; son, Jerry Robert "Buddy" (Janet) Hensley of AZ; sisters: Donna Trone of TN and Brenda White of FL; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; bonus daughter, Beverly (Heath) Thornsberry of Stanford; and bonus granddaughter, Cayley Thornsberry of Stanford.

In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her spouse, David Lee Smith; stepson, David Lee Smith, Jr.; son, Steve Hensley; and granddaughter, Mandy Miller.

Visitation is 9:30AM-10:30AM, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM with Beverly Thornsberry officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
