Obituary

Elsie Geneva Blankenship, 94, of Hustonville passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on August 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Helem and Harriett Terrell.

Geneva leaves behind a legacy of profound faith in God, humility, kindness, and compassion. Her strength and resilience were remarkable. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church and a retired nurse of 30 years touching the lives of everyone she encountered.

She is survived by 3 sons: Harvey Southerland of Mitchellsburg, Paul Blankenship of Florida, and Floyd Southerland of Maxey Valley; a sister, Bernice Soulyrette of Junction City; 4 grandchildren: James (Mendy) Southerland of Crab Orchard, Sabrina (Timmy) Loveless of Hustonville, Annetta Southerland of Maxey Valley, and Nina Blankenship of Florida; 6 great-grandchildren: Brianna (Hunter) Gilpin, Kelsey Southerland, Tiffany Southerland, Danielle (Chris) Curtsinger, Jayden Southerland, and Tucker; 5 great-great-grandchildren: Gracelynn and Adalee Gilpin, Remington and Ryeleigh Curtsinger, and Harlee Hammack; and also a great-great "in the crockpot" as Geneva would say.

In addition to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by husbands: William "Bill" Southerland and Jesse Paul Blankenship; 2 sons: Harold Southerland and David Southerland; 5 siblings: Johnny Terrell, Edgar Terrell, Ethel Terrell Brown, Pearl Pennington, and Hazel Southerland; 2 grandchildren: Casey Miller and Stacy Renee Southerland.
