Gary Ray Reid, 73, of Hustonville passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born in Ellisburg, on November 8, 1950, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland, Jr. and Alta Marie Coppage Reid.
Gary was a hard worker. He was a farmer, carpenter, brick layer, and a mechanic. He loved to garden and enjoyed mowing and having the yard well maintained. Above all, he was a family man that loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He rededicated his life to Christ last year and was living a Christian life.
Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Gail Cox Reid of Hustonville; daughter, Tracie (Brian) Southerland of Hustonville; son, Brandon (Anna) Reid of Danville; sisters, Debbie (James) Morgan of Hustonville and Patricia Turpin of Hustonville; brother, Richard Reid of Casey County; grandchildren: Bethany (Timothy) Jankowski of Hustonville, Makayla (Blake) Keebortz of Hustonville, Joshua (Raven) Southerland of Hustonville, Ethan (Hailee) Southerland of Hustonville, Taylar Reid (Michael Christian) of Liberty, and Braylon Reid of Danville; and great-grandchildren: Kayden Southerland, Keegan Southerland, Bryar Jankowski, Silas Jankowski, Isaiah Keebortz, Rorie Keebortz, Ellie Southerland, River Southerland, and Miles Christian.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Nellie Faye Reed.
Visitation is 5-8 PM Wednesday at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 AM with Brian Schaefer and Micky Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joshua Southerland, Ethan Southerland, Blake Keebortz, Tim Jankowski, Braylon Reid, Michael Christian, David Cox, and Richard Reid. Honorary Pallbearers will be the great-grandchildren.
