Elizabeth "Betty
Ann" Kelsey
Mar 24, 1938 — Dec 11, 2025
Danville
Elizabeth Anita "Betty Ann" Kelsey, 87, of Danville passed away on December 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington surrounded by the love of family.
Betty Ann was born in Stanford, Kentucky on March 24, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Francis Rice of Stanford. Betty Ann graduated from Stanford High School and attended Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky. At Union, she met the love of her life, Gerald D. Kelsey. After her graduation from Union, they were married on June 19, 1960, and settled in Danville. Betty Ann and Gerald have one child, a daughter, Lee Ann.
Betty Ann retired from Northpoint Training Center, where she worked for twenty years. She served as Deputy Warden. She also taught English at Danville High School for several years prior to Northpoint. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Danville, where she served on many committees. Betty Ann was proud of her work and made a lasting impact on those around her.
She loved her grandsons, her granddaughter-in-law, loved to travel, dogs, bird watching, having a glass of wine with friends and watching her husband gardening. She loved to laugh, weekly lunches with her siblings, time spent with her beloved niece, Kathy, any time spent with her daughter, and most of all sharing life with her husband, Gerald.
Betty Ann is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Gerald Kelsey; daughter, Lee Ann Roberts (Kevin) of Lexington; sisters: Tina Adams (the late Jim Adams) of Stanford, Jennie Lloyd (Bill) of Ewan, New Jersey, and Bonnie Crawford of Danville; brother, Bill Rice (Sandy) of Stanford; and sister in law, Rita Kelsey Donehoo (Dean) of Chatsworth, Georgia. Betty was a loving grandmother to Matthew Musgove of Lexington and Mark Musgove (Catherine) of Lexington, who called her their Gam; and Jim Musgove of Lexington, beloved father of her grandsons. She is also survived by cousins, many loving nieces and nephews, and their families.
W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland will be handling her cremation. Betty Ann requested no service or visitation upon her death. Donations to honor her memory can be made to two of her favorite charitable organizations.
