Johnson

Harrodsburg
Edward N. Johnson, 89, of Danville, formerly of Albany, KY passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023. Born September 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Bob and Marie Johnson.
Ed grew up in Clinton Co. Ky and joined the Air Force out of high school. He met his wife Lillian at a hospital where she was a nurse while visiting his uncle. They were soon married and moved to California where their first son, Eric, was born. Once out of the service, Ed moved his family to Richmond where he graduated from EKU. He started working for Southern States Petroleum. Soon Paul and Bruce were born. He started working as a sales rep for Marathon Oil Company. He then realized he wanted to be closer to his parents and started Johnson Oil Company in Danville. He bought a farm in Burgin, working cattle and horses. His affection for horses drew him to owning trotters and pacers that ran at the Red Mile and other tracks. Johnson Oil Company, racing horses and spending time with his family was what he enjoyed the most.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lillian Johnson; sons, Paul (Rose) Johnson of Danville and Bruce (Marie) Johnson of Richmond; brother, Bobby (Colleen) Johnson; 4 grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Nick, and Katie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Carmen and John.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Johnson and brothers, Billy and Dicky Johnson.
