Obituary

Warren Douglas (Doug) Lewis passed away on March 21, 2022 at the age of 90. He died peacefully at his home in Bradfordsville, Kentucky with his beloved wife Elizabeth, daughter, Cynthia (Cindy), and son-in-law, Todd, by his side.

Warren Douglas Lewis was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was a pillar of his community and his family and will be dearly missed.

Doug was born on February 6, 1932 in Louisville, Kentucky to Susan Mary Evans Mullins. Doug grew up on his family's farm with his twin sister, Dora, his mother, Sue Mary, and his grandmother, Daisy Evans. He lived and worked on that farm for 84 of his 90 years of life. As a young man, he learned to work hard. Doug was never afraid to get his hands dirty, even into the last months of his life, and his work ethic was one of his defining characteristics.

In 1953, Doug met the love of his life, Elizabeth Ann (Eab) Beeler. They were inseparable for over 63 years. Doug and Eab farmed for the entirety of their lives, raising tobacco, a big vegetable garden every summer, and livestock of all kinds. Doug also worked in the tobacco market and was a carpenter by trade. He built his own home in 1975 and lived there until his death.

Doug came to know the Lord in 1967 and became a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church. He loved to be with family and was always up for a gathering of friends. His favorite pastime was telling stories about his time in the military in the early 1950s and growing up on a farm in the latter years of the Great Depression.

Doug was the very foundation of his family, a good friend to all, and the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved people and called everyone "friend." The love he gave was returned to him many times over, especially in his last days when the house was completely filled with loved ones.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Mary Evans (Sue Mary) Mullins, and step-father, Theodore Mullins. Doug is survived by his loving wife,

Elizabeth; daughter, Cynthia Wilson; son-in-law, Todd Wilson; granddaughter, Hannah Wilson, all of Bradfordsville; a twin sister, Delores Ellis, of Lebanon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and relatives.
