Obituary

Doris Faye Broughton Phillips, 84, of Boyle County passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, October 9, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Broughton.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Phillips; sons: Dwain Phillips of South Fork and Randy (Angie) Phillips of Sadieville; daughter, Gina (Steve) Simpson of Forkland; sister, Dorothy Boyd of Stanford; grandchildren: Tori Phillips, Brett (Casey) Simpson, Delaney (Cooper) Jacobelli, Dustin Mullins, Shelby (Austin) Sons, and Kelsey (Jeremy) Blanton; and great grandchildren: Bentley, Bryson, Brilynn Cox, K’li and A.J. Reese, and Abby, Dylan, Devin, Hayden, Everleigh, Brayden, Maverick and Blaze.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her brother, Edmond Broughton and granddaughter, Tiffany Dunn.

Doris had a great love of singing. She grew up singing in church and later she and her family formed the Rising Suns, a band that she sang with for 14 years. After that she sang in a gospel group, Just 4 Him and enjoyed doing special music in church with her daughter.

After retiring from Lowes, Doris enjoyed playing cards with her good friends, working outside in her flowers, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Parksville Baptist Church.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
