Desiree
Duda
Jul 26, 1958 — May 5, 2026
Danville
Desiree Cabral Duda died peacefully at her home in Danville Kentucky on May 5th surrounded by her loved ones after a brave short battle with metastatic breast cancer. Desiree was born on July 26, 1958, in Hyannis, Massachusetts to the late Yvonne (Flores) Cabral and late Robert E Cabral of Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Desiree was the youngest of four siblings. She attended Provincetown school systems and graduated from Provincetown High School in 1976; she was a proud Lady Fishermen and captain of the cheerleading squad. Her passion for cheerleading continued into adulthood where she coached at Truro Central School from 1997 to 2007 and Provincetown High School from 2007 to 2010. Desiree loved all animals, especially horses, and spent most of her childhood and adolescences at Gale Force riding stables in Provincetown working as a stable hand in trade for trail rides and riding sessions. After high school, Desiree owned her own clothing business in Provincetown named Peek-a-Bootique. She loved fashion and loved being able to help her small community by having clothing for everyone and for every occasion. Through construction on her business, Desiree met the love of her life Frank, and on May 10th, 1980, they were wed on Mount Tamalpais in California. They later welcomed their only child, Sage, in 1991. Desiree was always up for a good adventure and knew she had one last big adventure in her, so in 2014 she decided to start the move to Danville, Kentucky. Desiree, her husband Frank, and their daughter Sage arrived in their new sanctuary in December of 2016. They built the greatest life for themselves from scratch in a new place and loved every moment along the way. There were friendships made, new experiences shared, and a lifetime of laughter and love jammed into the almost ten years in their dream home.
Desiree Duda is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Duda of 46 years; her loving daughter, Sage Murphy and her life partner, Josh Murphy; her beautiful grandchildren: Robert Lyndon Murphy and Kynlee Elise Murphy; and her ride or die best friend till the end, Vicky Merrimen, who also happens to be the family's first friend made in Kentucky. She leaves behind her siblings Yvonne Rochelle Cabral, Candice Silva, and Vaughn Cabral all of Provincetown, Massachusetts; friend and cousin Tina Wheeler (Cook) and her husband Kenny; along with countless friends, cousins, nephews, and friends made at the family marina from 2009 to 2014. Desiree's legacy will live on through memories and the love she left in our hearts.
