David Lee Smith, 85, of Moreland passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at his home.  Born December 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Buford and Rose Lane Smith.

David proudly served his country.  He was a US Army retiree.

David was a simple man that found joy and happiness in little things.  He enjoyed target shooting.  He also looked forward to going to the game reserve with Cayley where he taught her how to fish and just enjoyed spending time with her.  David loved being outdoors or just sitting in the garage.

David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgia Smith; son, Buddy (Janet) Hensley of Arizona; daughter, Teresa Lynn of KY; bonus daughter, Beverly (Heath) Thornsberry of Stanford; and bonus granddaughter, Cayley Thornsberry of Stanford.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sons, David Lee Smith, Jr. and Steve Hensley; granddaughter, Jenny Hensley; brothers, Fredrick Smith and Michael Smith; and sister, Mildred Hamilton.

Visitation is 9:30-10:30 am Thursday, January 23, 2025 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.  A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30 am with Beverly Thornsberry officiating.  Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.  Pallbearers are members of American Legion Post 18.  Honorary pallbearers are Beverly Thornsberry, Cayley Thornsberry, Heath Thornsberry, Kyle Langford, and Margaret Gilbert.
