Connie Sue Martin, 71, of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. She was born on November 18, 1954, to the late Darlene Louise Wagner Martin and William Martin.

Connie's early childhood years were spent at Frankfort State Hospital and School. In her late teens, she resided at Oakwood in Somerset before receiving the Supports for Community Living Waiver. She then moved to Independent Opportunities in Richmond, Kentucky, where she received care and support and made her home for nearly 30 years.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved best friend, Jacqueline Dennis.

She is survived by her dear friend, Brandi Wehrly, along with numerous friends, caregivers, and support staff whose lives she touched throughout the years.

Connie had a genuine love for people and was known for her big laugh. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially working with blocks, buckets, and other sensory items that brought her comfort and happiness. Her warm spirit, joyful personality, and ability to connect with others will be remembered by all who knew her.

Additional thanks to the staff of Harrison Nursing and Rehabilitation for the compassionate care they provided during the last year of Connie's life. Special thanks are also extended to Bluegrass Care Navigators Hospice for their support in comfort care.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Hustonville, Kentucky, with burial to follow at Hustonville Cemetery.  Visitation after 12 p.m. until time for service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to ARC of Kentucky, 706 E. Main Street, Suite A, Frankfort, KY 40601, or to Allegro Dance Project, 315 Sierra Drive, Lexington, KY 40505, in support of their work serving individuals with disabilities.

Connie's laughter, friendship, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
