Obituary

Chester Ray Shepperson, 101, of the Forkland community, went to Heaven on Saturday, February 4, 2023, surrounded by his family.  Born October 16, 1921, he was the son of William Lee and Minnie Shepperson.  In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Christine Lane Shepperson; daughter-in-law, Alice Shepperson, sons-in-law, Ed Wright and Bill Mirabelli; and grandson, David Shepperson.

Chester was a life-long farmer, raising tobacco, pigs, and cattle.  He enjoyed deer and squirrel hunting and loved to sing and play the harmonica and guitar.  He was a founding member of the Forkland Community Center and looked forward to attending the festival each year. Chester was a US Army World War II veteran.  He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Butchertown where he had served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his 3 sons: Ralph Shepperson of Waco, Donnie (Connie) Shepperson of Stanford, and Steve Shepperson of Forkland; 2 daughters, June Wright of Versailles and Ann Mirabelli of CA; 3 grandchildren:  Jill (Andy) Smith of Versailles, Donnie (Sarah) Shepperson, Jr. of Lancaster, and Jennifer (Steven) Johnson of Nancy; 6 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation is 5-8 pm, Tuesday and 1:30-3:30 pm, Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home (Moreland), 5590 KY HWY 2141, Hustonville, KY.  Funeral Service will follow at 3:30 Wednesday with Bro. JR Fields and Bro. Stacy Wilson officiating.  Burial is at Hustonville Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Steve Southerland, Lonnie Wayne Wilson, Steven Johnson, Dillon Johnson, Josh Shepperson, and Donnie Shepperson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Buddy Southerland,  caregivers, Christi Rowe and Jordan Coleman, and his caregiver for past 12 years, Shelia Gibson.
