Charles David Smithers, 73, of Hustonville passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Born in Liberty on July 14, 1951, he was the son of the late Robert Sterling and Minnie Marie Buck Smithers.

David was a retired farmer and teacher. He taught horticulture and landscaping at Casey County Vocational School for 27 years. David enjoyed hunting, his horses, and being with his family.

David is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Chris) Brown of Liberty; sister, Judy Smithers of Independence; grandchildren: Mya (Hunter) Matney of Junction City, McKenzie (Chad) Horton of Liberty, Dakota (Hannah) Smithers of Liberty, Briley Smithers of Liberty, and Shelby Smithers of Liberty; great-grandchildren: Raquel, Oakley, Karson, Karlie, Brooks, Carter, and Kaden; daughter-in-law, Nikki Smithers; a special friend, Sandy Brown of Liberty; step children: Sarah Brown of Liberty and Bradley Brown of FL; step-grandchildren: Kamryn and Kara Davis, and a niece, Deborah (David) Kimery of GA.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Jody Smithers; a sister, Joyce Smithers; and a brother, Robert Smithers II.

Celebration of Life service will be held at the Ag Center in Liberty on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
