Carolyn Carey Sheene, 84, of Danville went to her heavenly home on Friday, April 5, 2024.  Born January 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Addie Smock Carey.

Carolyn was a long-time member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville.  She retired from American Greetings after 29 years. She was an avid reader.  She enjoyed seeing flowers in bloom and receiving floral arrangements.   Carolyn loved Sundays. After attending church, she would spend time with her family and cook wonderful meals for them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Eric Sheene; brother and sisters: Violet Dailey, Curtis Carey, and Mary Joyce Hall. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Benny "Shop" Sheene; daughter, Crystal Melanie (Todd) Smothers of Mercer County; son, Steven Todd (Blythe) Sheene of Danville; and 5 grandchildren:  Ben Nicholas Sheene of Danville, Dr. Eric Cody Smothers of Missouri, Callie Elizabeth Smothers of Lexington, Grace Binford Sheene of London, England, and Henry James Sheene of Danville.

Visitation is 3-5pm, Sunday, April 14, 2024, at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will follow at 5 pm with Bro. John Penick Officiating.  A Guestbook is available at www.wlpruitt.com.
