Carlton Elwood Brown, 88, of Moreland passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023.  Born March 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Luther and Maggie Vaught Brown.

He was a US Army veteran.  After his time in the military, he worked at Eastern State Hospital, as a mechanic for Danville Construction Company, and at Whirlpool. Elwood later managed the bus garage for Lincoln County School System, and most recently, he had worked for Lincoln County in court security.  He was a long-time member of Moreland Christian Church where he served as an elder.

Elwood is survived by his wife, Dixie Smith Brown; daughter, Stephanie Carla Lee of Berea; brothers, Charles Brown of Hustonville, Ervin (Minnie) Brown of Hustonville, and Mike (Lola) Brown of IN; sisters:  Geneva Jeffries of Hustonville, Ruby (Tony) Sewell of Wilmore, and Brenda (JW) Pemberton of Perryville; three grandchildren: Evan Logan Reid of Lexington, Trevor Stephen Reid of Lexington, and Autumn Cheyenne Elizabeth Reid of Berea.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Opal Smiley, and brothers, David Brown and Hershel "Bud" Brown.

Visitation is 11am-1pm, Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Funeral Service to follow at 1 pm with Rev. David Smith officiating.   Burial is in Hustonville Cemetery.
