William Howard "Billy" Mills, 67, of Danville passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022. Born September 16, 1954, he was the son of the late William Carlisle Mills and Gladys Crutcher Followell.
Billy "Cat" was a well-known member of the Danville community as longtime co-owner/operator of Ace Hardware. He was a former licensed real estate agent. Billy was an avid reader, historian, and animal-lover. His favorite pastime was fishing with his grandson. He enjoyed country music. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He was devoted to his family and loved by all who knew him.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Corey) Edwards of Perryville; son, Zack (Erica) Mills of Stanford; the mother of his children, Berdena "Dinky" Mills of Danville; sister, Debbie (Larry Harp of Williamsburg; brothers, Jimmy (Pam) Mills of South Carolina and Dale Mills of Williamsburg; and his cat, Chester. He was Pappy to his grandchildren: Thad Gifford and Charlie and Savannah Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Bradford Lee Mills and by two sisters, Mary Beth Cooter and Roxanne Johnson.
Visitation is 5-8 pm, Wednesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral Service is 1 pm, Thursday at Gethsemane Baptist Church with visitation beginning after 11 am at the church. Bro. Phil Duttrey, Bro. Kevin Hampton, and Bro. Chris Huff with be officiating the service. Pallbearers are Zack Mills, Corey Edwards, Rodney Reed, Rick Presley, Larry Cheatham, and Billy Spears. Honorary pallbearers are Herb Toombs, Jacob Harp, Josh Presley, Matt Presley, Anthony Goodman, former Ace Hardware employees, and all his nieces and nephews. Burial is in Hustonville Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Danville/Boyle County Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
