Obituary

Betty May Arnold Messenger, 95, of Danville passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025.  Born December 28, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Gladys Elizabeth Whitmore Arnold.

Betty was a deeply religious and multi-talented lady.  She had a long and happy marriage with her husband of 56 years, Gerald Messenger.  Betty graduated from the University of KY with a BA and master's degree in art from EKU. With this degree, she taught at Lindsey Wilson College.  She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church in Danville, KY where she taught art classes and was a Sunday School teacher.  Betty also designed art murals and was a wonderful baker.  Betty had a heart of gold and gave selflessly to others of her love, talent, and time. She was a beautiful lady both inside and out and will be missed by many.

Betty is survived by four children: Steve Arnold (Mary) Messenger of Michigan, Susan Messenger of IN, Mary (Sam) Martin of Frankfort, KY, and Bob (Phyllis) Messenger of New Mexico; grandchild, Meghan Winchester; great-grandchildren: Rosalyn, Ronan, Riviera, and Remington; and brother, Edward Arnold of Michigan. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was also preceded in death by her sister, Nancy, and brothers, Howard and Don.
