Obituary

Barry Lee Russell, 63, of Hustonville, Kentucky, died April 9, 2026, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital.

Born November 11, 1962, in the middle of a typhoon in Guam, he was the youngest of four boys and completed the Russell family. Barry was an auto body mechanic by trade and most recently worked at Danville Auto Body. Over the years, he also worked at several locations in Evansville, Indiana, as well as in Danville, Kentucky. Barry was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Danville.

Barry had a love for NASCAR racing and anything to do with cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his brothers and cousins on their golf trips, where they shared plenty of laughs, lots of teasing, but, most importantly, time together. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, and later in life, he could often be found watching hunting and fishing shows. He was a man of few words, but he had a sharp and quiet wit that those close to him knew well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay Gilbert Russell and Margaret Evelyn Russell; his oldest brother, Thomas Shelton Russell (2004); as well as both paternal and maternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Barry leaves behind his two brothers, Doug Russell of Hustonville, Kentucky, and Dennis (Sandy) Russell of Newburgh, Indiana; his niece, Sarah Russell of Calhoun, Kentucky; his nephew, Drew (Cassie) Russell of Newburgh, Indiana; five great-nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Amelia, Deacon, Katherine, and Oliver Russell; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at W. L. Pruitt Funeral Home in Moreland on Thursday, April 16th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Visitation on Friday 10:00am-11:00am, April 17th at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Danville with funeral to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be at Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Drew Russell, Chris Edwards, Chester Edwards, Dean Oser, Blake Goldberg, and Dennis Russell. Honorary pallbearers are Deacon, Oliver, Evelyn, Amelia, and Katherine Russell.
